Seeking Interactive Entertainers for Scavenger Hunt and Show
Singers/Actors – Seeking energetic actors and cosplayers for character roles that have experience in singing “Barber Shop” or “A Cappella”. All voice ranges welcome. Costumes may be provided, or you will have the option to create your own based on the theme of the event and the specific character role you will receive upon passing voice auditions. (If a face to face singing audition cannot be arranged with the convention directors because of conflicting schedules or transportation issues you may still be able to do this via telephone. Don’t be shy to give this a try!)
Red Coat Cosplayers (Costumed Players) – Vash? Alucard? Edward Elric? If you have a cosplay that includes a red coat, you have a shot in obtaining a role in this years production. Please send the convention directors a photo of yourself in full costume, and be prepared for a brief Type Out/Interview audition. All sizes welcome, no prior acting experience necessary. Roles may or may not contain speaking parts.
Villain Cosplayers (Costumed Players) – Have a most vile and villainous cosplay? Then you have a shot at being scripted into our event as an interactive improv entertainer. Candidates selected in this category will have the largest speaking parts so voice projection, energy, and enthusiasm is a must! Cosplayers should note if they are selected they will be required to act as the character they are cosplaying throughout the entire weekend of the event that they are “on stage”. (in public view) Please choose a character from a series you are familiar with and would enjoy acting as! The directors will (of course) need to see a photo of you in costume as your villain character. Don’t hesitate to contact them!
Villains from various anime/video game/movie/book fandoms are ideal but original character creations are welcome to apply as well! The guidelines for your original creation would need to fit under one or all of these categories.
- A villain
- A character inspired from fashion in the era of 1930-1940′s
- Your own take on any of Carmen’s V.I.L.E. Agents
EGL/EGA & Wonderland Cosplayers (Costumed Players) – Do you have an EGL/EGA costume or a costume for a character from Alice in Wonderland? Then you have a shot at obtaining a staff position being one of our Tea Party entertainers. These staff will be the hosts/hostesses during the “Mad Tea Party” event as well as the main characters holding the “Mad Tea Party” on stage. Additional EGL/EGA will be needed to roam the hallways for improve skits. Candidates please send the Convention Directors a photo of yourself in full costume and be prepared for a brief Type Out/Interview audition. All sizes welcome, no prior acting experience necessary. Roles may or may not contain speaking parts.
NEW AUDITIONS
Time Traveling Cosplayers: Do you have a Doc Brown/Back to the Future cosplay? A Chrono Trigger or perhaps Chrono Cross cosplay? If you have a recognizable pop-sub-culture time traveling cosplay you could be cast in what’s sure to be an event that will go down…. in history!
Violinists: We are looking for experienced female violinists. This ones tricky. Guys, if you know friends, school mates, or co-workers who play the violin please let them know about this audition! We have a feeling this will be the hardest role to cast for and the person who snags this role will more then likely be interviewed for tv, film, or radio. If your interested, please bring your violin and have your favourit musical selection ready to perform for our casting directors.
Thanks for your interest guys..and keep spreading the word… Thanks to the anime and cosplay community creating quite a buzz, Janicon is becoming the talk of the town! We are working hard to live up to the expectations! Only 78 more days till we all fall through “the rabbit hole” together! See you there!
Anyone who is chosen to participate in the Scavenger Hunt or Show will receive free admission to JaniCon for the weekend.
Auditions are being held at The Jacksonville Landing at the outdoor stage at 11am – 3:30pm Saturday, September 8, 2007. To attend please RSVP by emailing mmurray@janicon.org or calling (386) 837-2108
